Miracle Man

Music and lyrics by Allen Ling
Version 1 Arranged by Melissa Reese, Joel Behrman, and Brain Mantia,
Version 2 Brain Mantia and Melissa Reese

I broke your heart
This time I went too far
I wasn’t right
Lost my vision
Then my sight

I broke no laws
But I have flaws
I blame myself
I am the cause

The next  thing that I’ll do
is make it up to you
I have more to prove
I will make that stand
I’ll do what I can
To become that man
That Miracle Man
That miracle man
Your miracle man
Your hero again

Now I am tired
Of wishful thinking
Of having dreams that won’t come true
The love we have
I won’t be sinking
And that is why
I’ll change for you

The first  thing that I’ll  do
is make it up to you
I have more to prove
And I will make that stand
I’ll do what I can
To become that man
That Miracle Man
That miracle man
Your miracle man
Your hero again

BACKSTORY:
I guess someone could say I was bragging about my skills as a physical therapist, but this song was really about being the man my wife wanted me to be (again).  I suppose I want to be the best at many things, but being the best husband means something more than just being a great provider and even a great lover; it means really being present and having that part of your heart only reserved for one.  I wrote this song for her to make up for getting supposedly sidetracked…by a successful boar hunt.

Again, many versions of the song, including modifying the horn lines to four  1/16th notes, adding Carl’s more rhythm guitars. If you listen closely, there are elements of the old “Batman” and “Six Million Dollar Man” horn lines mixed together by Joel.
